Directions

The Horseshoe Bend Campsite is about 20-25 minutes away from Duncan, on the way to Lake Cowichan.

There are several ways to get there from Duncan. Choose whatever route you’re familiar with. For those coming from the South Island, this may be your most direct route:

From Duncan, head north through town on Hwy 1/Trans Canada Hwy. Turn left on Drinkwater Rd. Go straight through the first roundabout (Drinkwater & Lane). Go straight through the second roundabout (Drinkwater & Somenos). Continue on Drinkwater Rd until you reach the Cowichan Valley Hwy/Hwy 18. Turn left. Continue on Hwy 18 until you see signs for Skutz Falls (if you get to Lake Cowichan, you’ve gone too far). Turn left on Skutz Falls Rd, then take another quick left onto Cowichan Lake Rd. Turn right on Mayo Rd. At the end of Mayo Rd, the Skutz Falls trailhead parking lot will be to the right, the Horseshoe Bend campsite is to the left. Turn left on Riverbottom Rd and you'll see the yellow gate. If you're okay with a 5-minute walk, please park just outside the yellow gate along Riverbottom Rd. If you'd prefer to get closer, there will be space to park on the upper level of the campsite.

If you’re coming from the North Island, head south towards Duncan. Turn right on Herd Rd. Herd Rd will turn into Somenos which will turn into the Cowichan Valley Hwy/Hwy 18. See above for directions from here to the campsite.

If you’re camping at Stoltz Pool Campground, you will take Riverbottom Rd directly to Horseshoe Bend/Skutz Falls.
